{"data":{"id":"us-ut/utah-code-63g-32-101","jurisdiction":"us-ut","citation":"Utah Code § 63G-32-101","heading":"Definitions.","body":"As used in this chapter:\n(1) \"Body of water\" means any natural or man-made accumulation of water, regardless of whether the accumulation of water is static or subject to a force that causes a hydrological current.\n(2) \"Governmental entity\" means:\n(a) a court;\n(b) the Legislature;\n(c) the legislative body of a political subdivision; or\n(d) another entity of the state or a political subdivision, if the entity has adjudicatory or rulemaking authority.\n(3) \"Human being\" means a member of the species classified as Homo sapiens;\n(4) \"Land\" means the solid terrestrial surface or subsurface of the earth.\n(5) \"Legal personhood\" means:\n(a) the legal rights and obligations of an individual under the laws of this state; or\n(b) the legal rights and obligations of a person other than an individual under the laws of this state.\n(6) \"Political subdivision\" means the same as that term is defined in Section 63G-7-102.\n(7) \"Real property\" means any building, fixture, improvement, appurtenance, structure, or other development that is affixed permanently to land.\n(8) \"State\" means the same as that term is defined in Section 63G-7-102.","path":["Title 63G General Government","Chapter 63G-32 Legal Personhood"],"source_url":"https://le.utah.gov/xcode/Title63G/Chapter32/63G-32-S101.html","current_through":"2026 General Session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T11:34:34Z","sha256":"96bd6be3119a9ecb9154842ff59bf9d82d2e4f4357756884bb4a0b3cd55fa121","source_id":"us-ut","stale":false,"prev":"us-ut/utah-code-63g-31-402","next":"us-ut/utah-code-63g-32-102"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
