{"data":{"id":"us-ut/utah-code-63h-7a-502","jurisdiction":"us-ut","citation":"Utah Code § 63H-7a-502","heading":"Interoperability Division duties.","body":"(1) The Interoperability Division shall:\n(a) review and make recommendations to the executive director, for approval by the board, regarding:\n(i) statewide interoperability coordination and FirstNet standards;\n(ii) technical, administrative, fiscal, technological, network, and operational issues for the implementation of statewide interoperability, coordination, and FirstNet;\n(iii) assisting public agencies with the implementation and coordination of the Interoperability Division responsibilities; and\n(iv) training for the public safety communications network and unified statewide 911 emergency services;\n(b) review information and records regarding:\n(i) aggregate information of the number of service subscribers by service type in a political subdivision;\n(ii) matters related to statewide interoperability coordination;\n(iii) matters related to FirstNet including advising the governor regarding FirstNet; and\n(iv) training needs;\n(c) prepare and submit to the executive director for approval by the board:\n(i) an annual plan for the Interoperability Division; and\n(ii) information required by the director to contribute to the comprehensive strategic plan described in Section 63H-7a-206;\n(d) prepare and conduct annual training exercises:\n(i) for public safety agencies; and\n(ii) designed to enhance interoperability and the effectiveness and efficiency of public safety agencies; and\n(e) fulfill all other duties imposed on the Interoperability Division by this chapter.\n(2) The Interoperability Division may:\n(a) recommend to the executive director to own, operate, or enter into contracts related to statewide interoperability, FirstNet, and training;\n(b) request information needed under Subsection (1)(b)(i) from:\n(i) the State Tax Commission; and\n(ii) public safety agencies; and\n(c) employ an outside consultant to study and advise the Interoperability Division on:\n(i) issues of statewide interoperability;\n(ii) FirstNet; and\n(iii) training.\n(3) The information requested by and provided to the Interoperability Division under Subsection (1)(b)(i) is a protected record in accordance with Section 63G-2-305.\n(4) This section does not expand the authority of the State Tax Commission to request additional information from a telecommunication service provider.","path":["Title 63H Independent State Entities","Chapter 63H-7a Utah Communications Authority Act","Part 63H-7a-5 Interoperability Division"],"source_url":"https://le.utah.gov/xcode/Title63H/Chapter7a/63H-7a-S502.html","current_through":"2026 General Session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T11:34:34Z","sha256":"e6e2bd44584bcb9a771b6c5acb2bd05ba7ec34f054786f8f90d8a43508176730","source_id":"us-ut","stale":false,"prev":"us-ut/utah-code-63h-7a-501","next":"us-ut/utah-code-63h-7a-503"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
