{"data":{"id":"us-ut/utah-code-64-13-37","jurisdiction":"us-ut","citation":"Utah Code § 64-13-37","heading":"Department authorized to test offenders for communicable disease.","body":"(1) As used in this section, \"communicable disease\" means:\n(a) an illness due to a specific infectious agent or its toxic products, which arises through transmission of that agent or its products from a reservoir to a susceptible host either directly, as from an infected person or animal, or indirectly, through an intermediate plant or animal host, vector, or the inanimate environment; and\n(b) a disease designated by the Department of Health and Human Services by rule as a communicable disease in accordance with Section 26B-7-207.\n(2) The department may:\n(a) test an offender for a communicable disease upon admission or within a reasonable time after admission to a correctional facility; and\n(b) periodically retest the offender for a communicable disease during the time the offender is in the custody of the department.","path":["Title 64 State Institutions","Chapter 64-13 Department of Corrections - State Prison"],"source_url":"https://le.utah.gov/xcode/Title64/Chapter13/64-13-S37.html","current_through":"2026 General Session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T11:34:34Z","sha256":"ebd724c3a12c84287996cfa8a05380d9e236618c52078ebd1043f6e4b709e90a","source_id":"us-ut","stale":false,"prev":"us-ut/utah-code-64-13-36","next":"us-ut/utah-code-64-13-38"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
