{"data":{"id":"us-ut/utah-code-67-4a-404","jurisdiction":"us-ut","citation":"Utah Code § 67-4a-404","heading":"Retention of records by holder.","body":"(1) A holder required to file a report under Section 67-4a-401 shall retain records for five years after the later of the date the report was filed or the last date a timely report was due to be filed, unless a shorter period is provided by rule of the administrator.\n(2) The holder may satisfy the requirement to retain records under this section through an agent.\n(3) The records shall contain:\n(a) the information required to be included in the report;\n(b) the date, place, and nature of the circumstances that gave rise to the property right;\n(c) the amount or value of the property;\n(d) the last address of the apparent owner, if known to the holder; and\n(e) if the holder sells, issues, or provides to others for sale or issue in this state traveler's checks, money orders, or similar instruments, other than third-party bank checks, on which the holder is directly liable, a record of the instruments while they remain outstanding indicating the state and date of issue.","path":["Title 67 State Officers and Employees","Chapter 67-4a Revised Uniform Unclaimed Property Act","Part 67-4a-4 Report by Holder"],"source_url":"https://le.utah.gov/xcode/Title67/Chapter4a/67-4a-S404.html","current_through":"2026 General Session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T11:34:34Z","sha256":"503b7d8957ec52c7620d4e7a565462c09d3b169fb4c1e91dba4e6759c7ea1b6a","source_id":"us-ut","stale":false,"prev":"us-ut/utah-code-67-4a-403","next":"us-ut/utah-code-67-4a-405"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
