{"data":{"id":"us-ut/utah-code-67-5-39","jurisdiction":"us-ut","citation":"Utah Code § 67-5-39","heading":"Sheriff Node Program.","body":"(1) As used in this section:\n(a) \"Blockchain\" means the same as that term is defined in Section 78B-3-112.\n(b) \"Reversible blockchain\" means the same as that term is defined in Section 78B-3-112.\n(c) \"Sheriff node\" means a computer that:\n(i) is connected to a reversible blockchain;\n(ii) is administered by the Office of the Attorney General; and\n(iii) allows the Office of the Attorney General to reverse a mistaken or fraudulent transaction upon receipt of:\n(A) a court order issued under Section 78B-3-112; or\n(B) an award issued in a valid and binding arbitration.\n(d) \"Transaction\" means the same as that term is defined in Section 78B-3-112.\n(2)\n(a) There is created a program known as the \"Sheriff Node Program\" within the Office of the Attorney General to operate a sheriff node on a reversible blockchain.\n(b) The attorney general shall administer the program with funds available for this purpose.\n(3) The attorney general shall operate the program only to reverse a transaction on a reversible blockchain upon receipt of:\n(a) a court order issued under Section 78B-3-112; or\n(b) an award issued in a valid and binding arbitration.\n(4) The attorney general may make rules in accordance with Title 63G, Chapter 3, Utah Administrative Rulemaking Act, to carry out the program, including to:\n(a) establish the number of reversible blockchains for which the attorney general may administer a sheriff node;\n(b) charge and assess fees and costs for the operation of a sheriff node on a reversible blockchain;\n(c) establish criteria for determining the validity of an arbitration award; and\n(d) establish other rules reasonably necessary to efficiently carry out the sheriff node program.","path":["Title 67 State Officers and Employees","Chapter 67-5 Attorney General"],"source_url":"https://le.utah.gov/xcode/Title67/Chapter5/67-5-S39.html","current_through":"2026 General Session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T11:34:34Z","sha256":"4f0007ce10ce2fb4b800539ea93eacabfe0594dc76315b9a77c48ecec4e74a74","source_id":"us-ut","stale":false,"prev":"us-ut/utah-code-67-5-38","next":"us-ut/utah-code-67-5-40"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
