{"data":{"id":"us-ut/utah-code-7-29-101","jurisdiction":"us-ut","citation":"Utah Code § 7-29-101","heading":"Definitions.","body":"As used in this chapter:\n(1) \"Blockchain protocol\" means any executable software deployed to enable the transfer of data and electronic records through a distributed network of nodes, including an additional standardized set of rules that uses a previously existing blockchain as a base.\n(2) \"Digital asset\" means:\n(a) virtual currency;\n(b) cryptocurrency;\n(c) natively electronic assets, including:\n(i) stablecoins; and\n(ii) non-fungible tokens; or\n(d) other digital-only assets that confer economic, proprietary, or access rights or powers.\n(3) \"Hardware wallet\" means a physical device that:\n(a) is not continuously connected to the Internet;\n(b) allows an individual to secure and transfer digital assets; and\n(c) enables the owner of digital assets to retain independent control over the digital assets.","path":["Title 7 Financial Institutions Act","Chapter 7-29 Digital Asset and Blockchain Technology","Part 7-29-1 General Provisions"],"source_url":"https://le.utah.gov/xcode/Title7/Chapter29/7-29-S101.html","current_through":"2026 General Session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T11:34:33Z","sha256":"a29102fe5e71e912c52e3c554dd4aef8e80713e09a5d050e7863daa9add2ed75","source_id":"us-ut","stale":false,"prev":"us-ut/utah-code-7-28-116","next":"us-ut/utah-code-7-29-102"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
