{"data":{"id":"us-ut/utah-code-7-3-21","jurisdiction":"us-ut","citation":"Utah Code § 7-3-21","heading":"Stock ownership by banks.","body":"(1) A bank may purchase, own and hold, and sell or otherwise dispose of:\n(a) shares of the Federal Reserve Bank of the Twelfth Federal Reserve District;\n(b) the stock of a corporation organized under the laws of the United States for purposes similar to those of the federal reserve banks or the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation;\n(c) shares of the Federal National Mortgage Association;\n(d) the stock of a safe deposit company;\n(e) the stock of a corporation owning the banking house in which any place of business of the bank is located;\n(f) the stock of a bank service corporation performing services for the bank;\n(g) the stock of a corporation acquired by the bank in satisfaction of or on account of debts previously contracted in the course of the bank's business;\n(h) the stock of a foreign banking corporation;\n(i) the stock of a corporation authorized under Title IX of the Housing and Urban Development Act of 1968;\n(j) the stock of the Government National Mortgage Association authorized under 12 U.S.C. Sec. 1716 et seq.;\n(k) the stock of a charitable foundation;\n(l) the stock of a community development corporation;\n(m) the stock of bankers' banks; and\n(n) the stock of an agricultural credit corporation.\n(2) A bank may invest in a small business investment company to the same extent allowed federally chartered banks.\n(3) Unless expressly authorized by this chapter, a bank may not purchase or own the stock of any other corporation except in a fiduciary capacity.","path":["Title 7 Financial Institutions Act","Chapter 7-3 Banks"],"source_url":"https://le.utah.gov/xcode/Title7/Chapter3/7-3-S21.html","current_through":"2026 General Session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T11:34:33Z","sha256":"1866460a232b198a96df0f4e846ec180d503ddeb654c5cf69e3dc10e180f7c9a","source_id":"us-ut","stale":false,"prev":"us-ut/utah-code-7-3-20","next":"us-ut/utah-code-7-3-22"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
