{"data":{"id":"us-ut/utah-code-70a-9a-310","jurisdiction":"us-ut","citation":"Utah Code § 70A-9a-310","heading":"When filing required to perfect security interest or agricultural lien -- Security interests and agricultural liens to which filing provisions do not apply.","body":"(1) Except as otherwise provided in Subsection (2) and Subsection 70A-9a-312(2), a financing statement must be filed to perfect all security interests and agricultural liens.\n(2) The filing of a financing statement is not necessary to perfect a security interest:\n(a) that is perfected under Subsection 70A-9a-308(4), (5), (6), or (7);\n(b) that is perfected under Section 70A-9a-309 when it attaches;\n(c) in property subject to a statute, regulation, or treaty described in Subsection 70A-9a-311(1);\n(d) in goods in possession of a bailee which is perfected under Subsection 70A-9a-312(4)(a) or (b);\n(e) in certificated securities, documents, goods, or instruments which is perfected without filing, control, or possession under Subsection 70A-9a-312(5), (6), or (7);\n(f) in collateral in the secured party's possession under Section 70A-9a-313;\n(g) in a certificated security which is perfected by delivery of the security certificate to the secured party under Section 70A-9a-313;\n(h) in controllable accounts, controllable electronic records, controllable payment intangibles, deposit accounts, electronic documents, investment property, or letter-of-credit rights which is perfected by control under Section 70A-9a-314;\n(i) in chattel paper which is perfected by possession and control under Section 70A-9a-314.1;\n(j) in proceeds which is perfected under Section 70A-9a-315; or\n(k) that is perfected under Section 70A-9a-316.\n(3) If a secured party assigns a perfected security interest or agricultural lien, a filing under this chapter is not required to continue the perfected status of the security interest against creditors of and transferees from the original debtor.","path":["Title 70A Uniform Commercial Code","Chapter 70A-9a Uniform Commercial Code - Secured Transactions","Part 70A-9a-3 Perfection and Priority"],"source_url":"https://le.utah.gov/xcode/Title70A/Chapter9a/70A-9a-S310.html","current_through":"2026 General Session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T11:34:34Z","sha256":"f4dc0d9a362031b7dc8f3a6d7fb4bbc7484380c97a7182df2a7f6fa6de1e5800","source_id":"us-ut","stale":false,"prev":"us-ut/utah-code-70a-9a-309","next":"us-ut/utah-code-70a-9a-311"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
