{"data":{"id":"us-ut/utah-code-72-19-201","jurisdiction":"us-ut","citation":"Utah Code § 72-19-201","heading":"Utah Broadband Center -- Creation -- Director -- Duties.","body":"(1) There is created within the department the Utah Broadband Center.\n(2) The executive director shall appoint a director of the broadband center to oversee the operations of the broadband center.\n(3) The broadband center shall:\n(a) ensure that publicly funded broadband projects continue to be publicly accessible and provide a public benefit;\n(b) develop the statewide digital connectivity plan described in Section 72-19-203;\n(c) carry out the duties described in Section 72-19-202;\n(d) administer the Broadband Access Grant Program created in Section 72-19-301; and\n(e) administer the Broadband Equity Access and Deployment Grant Program created in Section 72-19-401.\n(4) The broadband center shall ensure efficiency with respect to:\n(a) expenditure of funds; and\n(b) avoiding duplication of efforts.\n(5) The broadband center shall consider administering broadband infrastructure funds in a manner that:\n(a) efficiently maximizes the leverage of federal funding;\n(b) avoids the use of public funds for broadband facilities that duplicate existing broadband facilities that already meet or exceed federal standards; and\n(c) accounts for the benefits and costs to the state of existing facilities, equipment, and services of public and private broadband providers.","path":["Title 72 Transportation Code","Chapter 72-19 Utah Broadband Center","Part 72-19-2 Utah Broadband Center"],"source_url":"https://le.utah.gov/xcode/Title72/Chapter19/72-19-S201.html","current_through":"2026 General Session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T11:34:34Z","sha256":"0908f82db86cd4db1ecb3a8cba8d47b93d175cc589aa260a988ffa908ff2bbc9","source_id":"us-ut","stale":false,"prev":"us-ut/utah-code-72-19-101","next":"us-ut/utah-code-72-19-202"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
