{"data":{"id":"us-ut/utah-code-72-9-601","jurisdiction":"us-ut","citation":"Utah Code § 72-9-601","heading":"Tow truck motor carrier requirements -- Authorized towing certificates.","body":"(1) In addition to the requirements of this chapter, a tow truck motor carrier shall:\n(a) ensure that all the tow truck motor carrier's tow truck operators are properly:\n(i) trained to operate tow truck equipment;\n(ii) licensed, as required under Title 53, Chapter 3, Uniform Driver License Act; and\n(iii) complying with the requirements under Sections 41-6a-1406 and 72-9-603;\n(b) ensure that all the tow truck motor carrier's tow truck operators:\n(i) have cleared the criminal background check required in Subsections 72-9-602(2) and (3); and\n(ii) obtain and maintain a valid medical examiner's certificate under 49 C.F.R. Sec. 391.45;\n(c) obtain and display a current authorized towing certificate for the tow truck motor carrier, and each tow truck and tow truck operator, as required under Section 72-9-602; and\n(d) provide to the department, at least once per calendar quarter, information indicating each towing entity dispatch and rotation service of which the tow truck motor carrier is part.\n(2) A tow truck motor carrier may only perform a towing service described in Section 41-6a-1406, 41-6a-1407, or 72-9-603, with a tow truck and tow truck operator that has a current authorized towing certificate under this part.","path":["Title 72 Transportation Code","Chapter 72-9 Motor Carrier Safety Act","Part 72-9-6 Tow Truck Provisions"],"source_url":"https://le.utah.gov/xcode/Title72/Chapter9/72-9-S601.html","current_through":"2026 General Session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T11:34:34Z","sha256":"1d5eda45aa14447562e9dc01b44a3a94a7c4e62713abfde3e508a9ac9bb58cfb","source_id":"us-ut","stale":false,"prev":"us-ut/utah-code-72-9-503","next":"us-ut/utah-code-72-9-602"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
