{"data":{"id":"us-ut/utah-code-73-18-20.1","jurisdiction":"us-ut","citation":"Utah Code § 73-18-20.1","heading":"Seizure of a vessel.","body":"(1) A peace officer, without a warrant, may seize and take possession of a vessel:\n(a) that is placed or being operated on the waters of this state with improper registration;\n(b) that the peace officer has reason to believe has been stolen;\n(c) on which any hull identification number or serial number for an engine or outboard motor has been defaced, altered, or obliterated;\n(d) that has been abandoned on public land, highways, or waters of this state; or\n(e) if the registration or title fees for the vessel or outboard motor have not been paid.\n(2) If necessary for the transportation of a seized vessel, the vessel's trailer may be seized to transport and store the vessel.\n(3) Any peace officer seizing or taking possession of a vessel under this section shall comply with the provisions of Section 41-6a-1406.","path":["Title 73 Water and Irrigation","Chapter 73-18 State Boating Act"],"source_url":"https://le.utah.gov/xcode/Title73/Chapter18/73-18-S20.1.html","current_through":"2026 General Session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T11:34:34Z","sha256":"6871532e600a48efa787d54c59d3a6e7cb40562f44d3c40d3d3a32126f6dbe1f","source_id":"us-ut","stale":false,"prev":"us-ut/utah-code-73-18-20","next":"us-ut/utah-code-73-18-20.2"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
