{"data":{"id":"us-ut/utah-code-73-29-207","jurisdiction":"us-ut","citation":"Utah Code § 73-29-207","heading":"Fences across public water.","body":"(1) The owner of a public access area adjacent to and lying beneath a public water may place a fence or obstruction across a public water for agricultural, livestock, or other lawful purposes.\n(2) A fence or other obstruction shall:\n(a) comply with an applicable federal, state, or local law; and\n(b) be constructed in a manner that does not create an unreasonably dangerous condition to the public lawfully using the public water.\n(3) The owner of a public access area shall allow the placement of a ladder, gate, or other facility allowing portage around a fence or obstruction if:\n(a) the owner places a fence or obstruction across a public water in accordance with Subsection (1); and\n(b) the water is open to public recreational access by permission or under Section 73-29-203.","path":["Title 73 Water and Irrigation","Chapter 73-29 Public Waters Access Act","Part 73-29-2 Recreational Access to Public Water"],"source_url":"https://le.utah.gov/xcode/Title73/Chapter29/73-29-S207.html","current_through":"2026 General Session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T11:34:34Z","sha256":"c7e4bb43ffe1345a93da0989fb5e4e3615056cd490d96e0848e15f773444453e","source_id":"us-ut","stale":false,"prev":"us-ut/utah-code-73-29-206","next":"us-ut/utah-code-73-29-208"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
