{"data":{"id":"us-ut/utah-code-75-5-703","jurisdiction":"us-ut","citation":"Utah Code § 75-5-703","heading":"Interpretation of part.","body":"This part shall be construed and applied in accordance with the following principles:\n(1) a principal should be able to:\n(a) live in the manner in which the principal wishes; and\n(b) make decisions about accepting or refusing support, assistance, or protection, as long as doing so does not cause serious bodily injury, as that term is defined in Section 26B-5-301, to the principal, or harm to others;\n(2) a principal should be informed about and, to the best of the principal's abilities, participate in the management of the principal's affairs;\n(3) a principal should receive the most effective, yet least restrictive and intrusive, form of support, assistance, or protection when the principal is unable to manage the principal's affairs alone; and\n(4) the values, beliefs, wishes, cultural norms, and traditions that a principal holds should be respected in supporting the principal.","path":["Title 75 Utah Uniform Probate Code","Chapter 75-5 Protection of Persons Under Disability and Their Property","Part 75-5-7 Supported Decision-making Agreements"],"source_url":"https://le.utah.gov/xcode/Title75/Chapter5/75-5-S703.html","current_through":"2026 General Session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T11:34:34Z","sha256":"2b4a6ced932a277ce28b11b7eb8d227b8e90da125ca9e89cae9e6010dc13a536","source_id":"us-ut","stale":false,"prev":"us-ut/utah-code-75-5-702","next":"us-ut/utah-code-75-5-704"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
