{"data":{"id":"us-ut/utah-code-75b-2-205","jurisdiction":"us-ut","citation":"Utah Code § 75B-2-205","heading":"Venue for an action involving a trust.","body":"(1) Notwithstanding Title 78B, Chapter 3a, Venue for Civil Actions, and except as provided in Subsection (2), a person shall bring an action involving a trust in:\n(a) the county in which the trust's principal place of administration is or will be located; or\n(b) if the trust is created by a will and the estate is not yet closed, the county in which the decedent's estate is being administered.\n(2) Notwithstanding Title 78B, Chapter 3a, Venue for Civil Actions, and if a trust has no trustee, a person shall bring an action for the appointment of a trustee in:\n(a) a county of this state in which a beneficiary resides;\n(b) a county in which any trust property is located; or\n(c) if the trust is created by a will, the county in which the decedent's estate was or is being administered.\n(3) This section does not apply to an action brought in the Business and Chancery Court.","path":["Title 75B Trusts","Chapter 75B-2 Uniform Trust Code","Part 75B-2-2 Jurisdiction and Venue for Trusts"],"source_url":"https://le.utah.gov/xcode/Title75B/Chapter2/75B-2-S205.html","current_through":"2026 General Session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T11:34:34Z","sha256":"86bc5cd773c3fb820b3f5c86d39b0dff197bb14476d79ac7623dac2e73b7ce67","source_id":"us-ut","stale":false,"prev":"us-ut/utah-code-75b-2-204","next":"us-ut/utah-code-75b-2-301"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
