{"data":{"id":"us-ut/utah-code-75b-2-511","jurisdiction":"us-ut","citation":"Utah Code § 75B-2-511","heading":"Classification of claims.","body":"(1) If the applicable assets of the deceased settlor's estate or trust estate are insufficient to pay all claims in full, the trustee shall make payment in the following order:\n(a) reasonable funeral expenses;\n(b) costs and expenses of administration;\n(c) debts and taxes with preference under federal law;\n(d) reasonable and necessary medical and hospital expenses of the last illness of the deceased settlor, including compensation of persons attending the deceased settlor, and medical assistance if Section 26B-3-1013 applies;\n(e) debts and taxes with preference under other laws of this state; and\n(f) all other claims.\n(2) No preference shall be given in the payment of any claim over any other claim of the same class.\n(3) A claim due and payable shall not be entitled to a preference over claims not due.","path":["Title 75B Trusts","Chapter 75B-2 Uniform Trust Code","Part 75B-2-5 Spendthrift and Discretionary Trusts"],"source_url":"https://le.utah.gov/xcode/Title75B/Chapter2/75B-2-S511.html","current_through":"2026 General Session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T11:34:34Z","sha256":"cc18a54d5bf1cae8fce8e1877333d81c919a7fcaa9e586f8f8cd359e511f63c7","source_id":"us-ut","stale":false,"prev":"us-ut/utah-code-75b-2-510","next":"us-ut/utah-code-75b-2-512"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
