{"data":{"id":"us-ut/utah-code-76-11-212","jurisdiction":"us-ut","citation":"Utah Code § 76-11-212","heading":"Transferring a handgun, short barreled rifle, short barreled shotgun, or fully automatic weapon to a minor.","body":"(1) Terms defined in Sections 76-1-101.5, 76-11-101, and 76-11-201 apply to this section.\n(2) An actor is guilty of transferring a handgun, short barreled rifle, short barreled shotgun, or fully automatic weapon to a minor if:\n(a) the actor transfers:\n(i) a handgun to a minor; or\n(ii) a short barreled rifle, short barreled shotgun, or fully automatic weapon to a minor; and\n(b) the transferring of the firearm described in Subsection (2)(a):\n(i) would result in the minor committing a violation of Section 76-11-211, Possession of a dangerous weapon by a minor; or\n(ii) is in violation of any other applicable state or federal law.\n(3) A violation of Subsection (2)(a) is:\n(a) if the violation is the result of transferring a handgun:\n(i) a class B misdemeanor upon the first offense; and\n(ii) a class A misdemeanor for each subsequent offense; or\n(b) a third degree felony if the violation is the result of transferring a short barreled rifle, short barreled shotgun, or fully automatic weapon to a minor.","path":["Title 76 Criminal Offenses","Chapter 76-11 Weapons","Part 76-11-2 General Weapons Violations"],"source_url":"https://le.utah.gov/xcode/Title76/Chapter11/76-11-S212.html","current_through":"2026 General Session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T11:34:34Z","sha256":"ff89708cacec12d1540c88262414899c07e5e3e161475b77d847110b44a027dd","source_id":"us-ut","stale":false,"prev":"us-ut/utah-code-76-11-211","next":"us-ut/utah-code-76-11-213"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
