{"data":{"id":"us-ut/utah-code-76-11-302","jurisdiction":"us-ut","citation":"Utah Code § 76-11-302","heading":"Category I restricted person established.","body":"Except as provided in Section 76-11-304, Exceptions, limitations, and exclusions to restricted person categories, an individual is categorized as a category I restricted person and subject to the restrictions and penalties described in Section 76-11-305:\n(1) if the individual has been convicted of a violent felony;\n(2) if the individual is on probation or parole for a felony;\n(3) if the individual is on parole from secure care;\n(4) for 10 years after the day on which the individual was adjudicated for an offense which if committed by an adult would have been a violent felony;\n(5) if the individual is an alien who is illegally or unlawfully in the United States, including an alien who has:\n(a) submitted an asylum application in accordance with 8 U.S.C. Sec. 1158 and is waiting for a disposition on the application; or\n(b) submitted a temporary protected status application in accordance with 8 U.S.C. Sec. 1254a and is waiting for a disposition on the application; or\n(6) if the individual is on probation for a conviction of possessing:\n(a) a substance classified in Section 58-37-108 as a Schedule I or II controlled substance;\n(b) a controlled substance analog; or\n(c) a substance listed in Section 58-37-109.","path":["Title 76 Criminal Offenses","Chapter 76-11 Weapons","Part 76-11-3 Persons Restricted Regarding Dangerous Weapons"],"source_url":"https://le.utah.gov/xcode/Title76/Chapter11/76-11-S302.html","current_through":"2026 General Session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T11:34:34Z","sha256":"12fc976896345ce4cebcb186f53355f4116df3e46956c1425ea7c19848d3714a","source_id":"us-ut","stale":false,"prev":"us-ut/utah-code-76-11-301","next":"us-ut/utah-code-76-11-303"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
