{"data":{"id":"us-ut/utah-code-76-3-204","jurisdiction":"us-ut","citation":"Utah Code § 76-3-204","heading":"Misdemeanor conviction -- Term of imprisonment.","body":"A person who has been convicted of a misdemeanor may be sentenced to imprisonment as follows:\n(1)\n(a) Except as provided in Subsection (1)(b), in the case of a class A misdemeanor, for a term not exceeding 364 days.\n(b)\n(i) Except as provided in Subsection (1)(b)(ii), in the case of a class A misdemeanor under Title 76, Chapter 5, Offenses Against the Individual, for a term not exceeding one year.\n(ii) For a class A misdemeanor for one of following offenses, for a term not exceeding 364 days:\n(A) Section 76-5-102.9, propelling a bodily substance or material as described in Section 76-5-102.9;\n(B) Section 76-5-107.5, prohibition of \"hazing\";\n(C) Section 76-5-113, surreptitious administration of certain substances; or\n(D) Section 76-5-303, custodial interference.\n(2) In the case of a class B misdemeanor, for a term not exceeding six months.\n(3) In the case of a class C misdemeanor, for a term not exceeding 90 days.","path":["Title 76 Criminal Offenses","Chapter 76-3 Punishments","Part 76-3-2 Sentencing"],"source_url":"https://le.utah.gov/xcode/Title76/Chapter3/76-3-S204.html","current_through":"2026 General Session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T11:34:34Z","sha256":"93f680556a6e4544c75d6478e512f90928cdbda53d0595dc7c6710b3876b8c2a","source_id":"us-ut","stale":false,"prev":"us-ut/utah-code-76-3-203.21","next":"us-ut/utah-code-76-3-205"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
