{"data":{"id":"us-ut/utah-code-76-5-312","jurisdiction":"us-ut","citation":"Utah Code § 76-5-312","heading":"Human trafficking of a vulnerable adult for commercial sexual exploitation.","body":"(1)\n(a) As used in this section:\n(i) \"Commercial sexual act\" means the same as that term is defined in Section 76-5-308.1.\n(ii) \"Commercial sexually explicit performance\" means the same as that term is defined in Section 76-5-308.1.\n(iii) \"Vulnerable adult\" means the same as that term is defined in Section 76-5-111.\n(b) Terms defined in Section 76-1-101.5 apply to this section.\n(2) An actor commits human trafficking of a vulnerable adult for commercial sexual exploitation if the actor enlists, harbors, transports, obtains, patronizes, or solicits a vulnerable adult for the purpose of procuring the vulnerable adult's labor in the form of a commercial sexual act or a commercial sexually explicit performance.\n(3)\n(a) A violation of Subsection (2) that is done knowingly is a first degree felony punishable by a term of imprisonment of not less than 10 years and which may be for life.\n(b) A violation of Subsection (2) that is done recklessly is a second degree felony.\n(4) An offense committed under this section is a separate offense from any other offense committed in relationship to the commission of an offense under this section.","path":["Title 76 Criminal Offenses","Chapter 76-5 Offenses Against the Individual","Part 76-5-3 Kidnapping, Trafficking, And Smuggling"],"source_url":"https://le.utah.gov/xcode/Title76/Chapter5/76-5-S312.html","current_through":"2026 General Session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T11:34:34Z","sha256":"8ab1fc3c70d71856eef4978d695d54b7bd73a97ec520c9c87ae014326002173a","source_id":"us-ut","stale":false,"prev":"us-ut/utah-code-76-5-311","next":"us-ut/utah-code-76-5-313"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
