{"data":{"id":"us-ut/utah-code-76-5d-207","jurisdiction":"us-ut","citation":"Utah Code § 76-5d-207","heading":"Exploitation of prostitution.","body":"(1) Terms defined in Sections 76-1-101.5, 76-5d-101, and 76-5d-201 apply to this section.\n(2) An actor commits exploitation of prostitution if the actor:\n(a) procures an individual for a place of prostitution;\n(b) encourages, induces, or otherwise purposely causes another individual to become or remain a prostituted individual;\n(c) transports an individual into or within this state with the purpose to promote the individual's engagement in prostitution;\n(d) procures or pays for an individual's transportation with the purpose of promoting the individual's engagement in prostitution;\n(e) not being a child or legal dependent of a prostituted individual, shares the proceeds of prostitution with a prostituted individual, or an individual the actor believes to be a prostituted individual, pursuant to the actor's and prostituted individual's understanding that the actor is to share in the proceeds of the prostitution; or\n(f) owns, controls, manages, supervises, or otherwise keeps, alone or in association with another individual, a place of prostitution or a business where prostitution occurs or is arranged, encouraged, supported, or promoted.\n(3) A violation of Subsection (2) is a third degree felony.\n(4) Upon a conviction for a violation of this section, the court shall order the maximum fine amount and may not waive or suspend the fine.","path":["Title 76 Criminal Offenses","Chapter 76-5d Prostitution","Part 76-5d-2 General Offenses"],"source_url":"https://le.utah.gov/xcode/Title76/Chapter5d/76-5d-S207.html","current_through":"2026 General Session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T11:34:34Z","sha256":"ebee95877a7c0cc8f6469564f222668e58386cb25aaa7438db93f90cc5685379","source_id":"us-ut","stale":false,"prev":"us-ut/utah-code-76-5d-206","next":"us-ut/utah-code-76-5d-208"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
