{"data":{"id":"us-ut/utah-code-76-7-401","jurisdiction":"us-ut","citation":"Utah Code § 76-7-401","heading":"Definitions.","body":"As used in this part:\n(1) \"Assisted reproductive treatment\" means a method of causing pregnancy by any means other than through sexual intercourse, including:\n(a) intrauterine or intracervical insemination;\n(b) donation of eggs or sperm;\n(c) donation of embryos;\n(d) in vitro fertilization and embryo transfer; and\n(e) intracytoplasmic sperm injection.\n(2) \"Gamete\" means a cell containing a haploid complement of DNA that has the potential to form an embryo when combined with another gamete, including:\n(a) a sperm;\n(b) an egg; or\n(c) nuclear DNA from one individual combined with the:\n(i) cytoplasm of another individual; or\n(ii) cytoplasmic DNA of another individual.\n(3) \"Health care provider\" means an individual listed in Subsection 78B-3-403(12).","path":["Title 76 Criminal Offenses","Chapter 76-7 Offenses Against the Family","Part 76-7-4 Genetic Material Misuse"],"source_url":"https://le.utah.gov/xcode/Title76/Chapter7/76-7-S401.html","current_through":"2026 General Session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T11:34:34Z","sha256":"d8bb61c6fad40f494fd21d0e576b5476ea0990f34963b41222edcfc938f31740","source_id":"us-ut","stale":false,"prev":"us-ut/utah-code-76-7-332","next":"us-ut/utah-code-76-7-402"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
