{"data":{"id":"us-ut/utah-code-76-8-418","jurisdiction":"us-ut","citation":"Utah Code § 76-8-418","heading":"Damaging a jail or other place of confinement.","body":"(1)\n(a) As used in this section:\n(i) \"Child\" means the same as that term is defined in Section 80-1-102.\n(ii) \"Detention facility\" means the same as that term is defined in Section 80-1-102.\n(iii) \"Secure care facility\" means the same as that term is defined in Section 80-1-102.\n(iv) \"Shelter facility\" means the same as that term is defined in Section 80-1-102.\n(b) Terms defined in Sections 76-1-101.5 and 76-8-101 apply to this section.\n(2) An actor commits damaging a jail or other place of confinement if the actor willfully and intentionally breaks down, pulls down, destroys, floods, or otherwise damages a public jail or other place of confinement, including a detention facility, a shelter facility, or a secure care facility.\n(3) A violation of Subsection (2) is a third degree felony.\n(4) This section is applicable to a child who willfully and intentionally commits an offense against a public jail, a detention facility, a shelter facility, or a secure care facility.","path":["Title 76 Criminal Offenses","Chapter 76-8 Offenses Against the Administration of Government","Part 76-8-4 Offenses Against Public Property"],"source_url":"https://le.utah.gov/xcode/Title76/Chapter8/76-8-S418.html","current_through":"2026 General Session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T11:34:34Z","sha256":"5643887d59a88ed24db64990789270ea7bed78d3f81f3b25178e1af3aba1fd47","source_id":"us-ut","stale":false,"prev":"us-ut/utah-code-76-8-417","next":"us-ut/utah-code-76-8-419"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
