{"data":{"id":"us-ut/utah-code-76-8-419","jurisdiction":"us-ut","citation":"Utah Code § 76-8-419","heading":"Damaging a highway or bridge.","body":"(1) Terms defined in Sections 76-1-101.5 and 76-8-101 apply to this section.\n(2) An actor commits damaging a highway or bridge if the actor intentionally, knowingly, or recklessly digs up, removes, displaces, breaks, or otherwise damages or destroys a public highway or private way laid out by authority of law, or a bridge upon the highway or private way.\n(3) Except as provided in Subsection (4), a violation of Subsection (2) is a third degree felony.\n(4) If the violation of this section constitutes an offense subject to a greater penalty under another provision of this title, than is provided under this section, this section does not prohibit the prosecution and sentencing for the offense subject to a greater penalty.","path":["Title 76 Criminal Offenses","Chapter 76-8 Offenses Against the Administration of Government","Part 76-8-4 Offenses Against Public Property"],"source_url":"https://le.utah.gov/xcode/Title76/Chapter8/76-8-S419.html","current_through":"2026 General Session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T11:34:34Z","sha256":"4cc1010f76b9af8ef9b511bd076a1a7b3f259c5965561afa3722a724fecae8ed","source_id":"us-ut","stale":false,"prev":"us-ut/utah-code-76-8-418","next":"us-ut/utah-code-76-8-420"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
