{"data":{"id":"us-ut/utah-code-76-8-513","jurisdiction":"us-ut","citation":"Utah Code § 76-8-513","heading":"Sending a false judicial or official notice.","body":"(1)\n(a) As used in this section:\n(i) \"Official document\" means:\n(A) a summons, complaint, court order, or process; or\n(B) an insignia, seal, or printed form of a federal, state, or local governmental entity or an instrumentality of a federal, state, or local governmental entity.\n(ii)\n(A) \"False official document\" means a document that has the appearance or format of an official document but that has not been sanctioned by the relevant governmental entity.\n(B) \"False official document\" includes a document calculated to induce an individual to believe that the document is an official document of the relevant governmental entity.\n(b) Terms defined in Sections 76-1-101.5, 76-8-101, and 76-8-501 apply to this section.\n(2) An actor commits sending a false judicial or official notice if the actor knowingly sends, mails, or delivers to an individual a false official document with the purpose to procure the compliance of the individual.\n(3) A violation of Subsection (2) is a class B misdemeanor.","path":["Title 76 Criminal Offenses","Chapter 76-8 Offenses Against the Administration of Government","Part 76-8-5 Falsification in Official Matters"],"source_url":"https://le.utah.gov/xcode/Title76/Chapter8/76-8-S513.html","current_through":"2026 General Session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T11:34:34Z","sha256":"760bd6de8fc0bef71e4a1665f2e38add848b856d9ecb7bc60c4a3ed635792b6b","source_id":"us-ut","stale":false,"prev":"us-ut/utah-code-76-8-512","next":"us-ut/utah-code-76-8-515"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
