{"data":{"id":"us-ut/utah-code-76-9-115","jurisdiction":"us-ut","citation":"Utah Code § 76-9-115","heading":"Intentional concealment of identity while committing an offense in public.","body":"(1)\n(a) As used in this section, \"public place\" means a place to which the public or a substantial group of the public has access, including:\n(i) a street or highway; and\n(ii) the common areas of a school, hospital, apartment house, office building, public building, public facility, transport facility, and a retail establishment.\n(b) Terms defined in Section 76-1-101.5 apply to this section.\n(2) An actor commits intentional concealment of identity while committing an offense in public if the actor intentionally or knowingly:\n(a) wears a mask or other facial obscurant or disguise with the intent to conceal the actor's identity from law enforcement or other government officials;\n(b) is in a public place; and\n(c) while wearing the mask or other facial obscurant or disguise, is:\n(i) committing, or attempting to commit, a local, state, or federal criminal offense; or\n(ii) congregating with other individuals who the actor knows are committing, or attempting to commit, a local, state, or federal criminal offense.\n(3) A violation of Subsection (2) is a class A misdemeanor.","path":["Title 76 Criminal Offenses","Chapter 76-9 Offenses Against Public Order, Health, and Safety","Part 76-9-1 Breaches of the Peace and Related Offenses"],"source_url":"https://le.utah.gov/xcode/Title76/Chapter9/76-9-S115.html","current_through":"2026 General Session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T11:34:34Z","sha256":"f42375082101095de6cb5cfefb44b176de6306191206097c7f1c0b3ca8b5841c","source_id":"us-ut","stale":false,"prev":"us-ut/utah-code-76-9-114","next":"us-ut/utah-code-76-9-116"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
