{"data":{"id":"us-ut/utah-code-76-9-1405","jurisdiction":"us-ut","citation":"Utah Code § 76-9-1405","heading":"General gambling promotion.","body":"(1) Terms defined in Sections 76-1-101.5 and 76-9-1401 apply to this section.\n(2) An actor commits general gambling promotion if the actor:\n(a) derives, or intends to derive, an economic benefit other than personal winnings from gambling or fringe gambling; and\n(b)\n(i) induces or aids another individual to engage in gambling or fringe gambling; or\n(ii) knowingly invests in, finances, owns, controls, supervises, manages, or participates in gambling or fringe gambling.\n(3)\n(a) Except as provided in Subsection (3)(b), a violation of Subsection (2) is a class A misdemeanor.\n(b) A violation of Subsection (2) is a third degree felony if the actor has previously been convicted of a violation of Subsection (2).","path":["Title 76 Criminal Offenses","Chapter 76-9 Offenses Against Public Order, Health, and Safety","Part 76-9-14 Gambling"],"source_url":"https://le.utah.gov/xcode/Title76/Chapter9/76-9-S1405.html","current_through":"2026 General Session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T11:34:34Z","sha256":"ff7a615314f4806364e6ac274b985fefc94c6f2adb70bbfa304f79aedbf6832c","source_id":"us-ut","stale":false,"prev":"us-ut/utah-code-76-9-1404","next":"us-ut/utah-code-76-9-1406"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
