{"data":{"id":"us-ut/utah-code-76-9-1903","jurisdiction":"us-ut","citation":"Utah Code § 76-9-1903","heading":"Unlawful creation, installation, or attachment of a contraband compartment.","body":"(1) Terms defined in Sections 76-1-101.5 and 76-9-1901 apply to this section.\n(2) An actor commits unlawful creation, installation, or attachment of a contraband compartment if the actor facilitates the storage, concealment, or transportation of contraband by:\n(a) designing, constructing, building, altering, or fabricating a compartment for a vehicle;\n(b) installing or creating a compartment in a vehicle; or\n(c) attaching a compartment to a vehicle.\n(3) A violation of Subsection (2) is a third degree felony.\n(4) The trier of fact may infer that an actor intends to store, conceal, or transport contraband if:\n(a) the actor possesses, uses, or controls a vehicle that has a compartment; and\n(b) the compartment contains:\n(i) contraband; or\n(ii) evidence of prior storage, concealment, or transportation of contraband.","path":["Title 76 Criminal Offenses","Chapter 76-9 Offenses Against Public Order, Health, and Safety","Part 76-9-19 Unlawful Contraband Compartment in a Vehicle"],"source_url":"https://le.utah.gov/xcode/Title76/Chapter9/76-9-S1903.html","current_through":"2026 General Session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T11:34:34Z","sha256":"a4f20726b31d5e8ee2feff76fa0616f78441f3022d77ed4a0649153d3c40cbd7","source_id":"us-ut","stale":false,"prev":"us-ut/utah-code-76-9-1902","next":"us-ut/utah-code-76-9-2001"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
