{"data":{"id":"us-ut/utah-code-77-38-203","jurisdiction":"us-ut","citation":"Utah Code § 77-38-203","heading":"Definitions.","body":"As used in this part:\n(1) \"Confidential communication\" means information given to a sexual assault counselor by a victim and includes reports or working papers made in the course of the counseling relationship.\n(2)\n(a) \"Rape crisis and services center\" means a nonprofit entity that assists victims of sexual assault and victims' families by offering sexual assault crisis intervention and counseling through a sexual assault counselor.\n(b) \"Rape crisis and services center\" does not include a qualified institutional victim services provider as defined in Section 53H-14-401.\n(3) \"Sexual assault counselor\" means an individual who:\n(a) is employed by or volunteers at a rape crisis and services center;\n(b) has a minimum of 40 hours of training in counseling and assisting victims of sexual assault; and\n(c) is under the supervision of the director or designee of a rape crisis and services center.\n(4) \"Victim\" means an individual who has experienced a sexual assault of whatever nature including incest and rape and requests counseling or assistance regarding the mental, physical, and emotional consequences of the sexual assault.","path":["Title 77 Criminal Procedure","Chapter 77-38 Crime Victims","Part 77-38-2 Confidential Communications for Sexual Assault Act"],"source_url":"https://le.utah.gov/xcode/Title77/Chapter38/77-38-S203.html","current_through":"2026 General Session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T11:34:34Z","sha256":"94629db48fac34e1788007c22eb19819a39c678e9478060aee1fe48d1ad2025b","source_id":"us-ut","stale":false,"prev":"us-ut/utah-code-77-38-202","next":"us-ut/utah-code-77-38-204"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
