{"data":{"id":"us-ut/utah-code-78a-2-107","jurisdiction":"us-ut","citation":"Utah Code § 78A-2-107","heading":"Court administrator -- Powers, duties, and responsibilities.","body":"Under the general supervision of the presiding officer of the Judicial Council, and within the policies established by the Judicial Council:\n(1) the state court administrator shall:\n(a) organize and administer all of the nonjudicial activities of the courts;\n(b) assign, supervise, and direct the work of the nonjudicial officers of the courts;\n(c) implement the standards, policies, and rules established by the Judicial Council;\n(d) formulate and administer a system of personnel administration, including in-service training programs;\n(e) prepare and administer the state judicial budget, fiscal, accounting, and procurement activities for the operation of the courts of record;\n(f) assist justice courts in budgetary, fiscal, and accounting procedures;\n(g) conduct studies of the business of the courts, including the preparation of recommendations and reports relating to the studies;\n(h) develop uniform procedures for the management of court business, including the management of court calendars;\n(i) maintain liaison with the governmental and other public and private groups having an interest in the administration of the courts;\n(j) establish uniform policy concerning vacations and sick leave for judges and nonjudicial officers of the courts;\n(k) establish uniform hours for court sessions throughout the state;\n(l) when necessary for administrative reasons, change the county for trial of any case if no party to the litigation files timely objections to this change;\n(m)\n(i) organize and administer a program of continuing education for judges and support staff, including training for justice court judges; and\n(ii) ensure that any training or continuing education described in Subsection (1)(m)(i) complies with Title 63G, Chapter 22, State Training and Certification Requirements;\n(n) provide for an annual meeting for each level of the courts of record and the annual judicial conference; and\n(o) perform other duties as assigned by the presiding officer of the Judicial Council; and\n(2) with the consent of the presiding officer of the Judicial Council, the state court administrator may:\n(a) call and appoint a justice or judge of a court of record to serve temporarily as a judge of the Court of Appeals, the Business and Chancery Court, a district court, or a juvenile court; and\n(b) set reasonable compensation for the service of a justice or judge under Subsection (2)(a).","path":["Title 78A Judiciary and Judicial Administration","Chapter 78A-2 Judicial Administration","Part 78A-2-1 Judicial Administration"],"source_url":"https://le.utah.gov/xcode/Title78A/Chapter2/78A-2-S107.html","current_through":"2026 General Session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T11:34:34Z","sha256":"0530ee59dec307421d167249257104c42fb180a6891866f7d1a28bb11c7be971","source_id":"us-ut","stale":false,"prev":"us-ut/utah-code-78a-2-106","next":"us-ut/utah-code-78a-2-108"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
