{"data":{"id":"us-ut/utah-code-78a-2-233","jurisdiction":"us-ut","citation":"Utah Code § 78A-2-233","heading":"Posting certain information on a court website.","body":"(1) As used in this section:\n(a) \"Court website\" means a government website operated by or on behalf of any court created in Title 78A, Chapter 1, Judiciary.\n(b) \"Government website\" means the same as that term is defined in Section 63A-19-101.\n(c) \"Personal data\" means the same as that term is defined in Section 63A-19-101.\n(2) Except as provided in Subsections (3) and (4), a court website:\n(a) may not display personal data; and\n(b) shall contain a conspicuous notice that includes a list of documents routinely posted on the court website.\n(3) This section does not prohibit access to any original document as provided by law.\n(4) This section does not apply to:\n(a) the Registry of Judgments created in Section 78B-5-201, if the Registry of Judgments complies with Subsection (4)(b);\n(b) remote access to a document through a network or system that:\n(i) is secure; and\n(ii) provides restricted access through security standards developed by the court, including a registration requirement under which a prospective user must provide the prospective user's:\n(A) identity;\n(B) business or residence address; and\n(C) citizenship status;\n(c) postings related to legitimate law enforcement purposes;\n(d) postings of documents filed or recorded more than 100 years prior to the posting;\n(e) postings of:\n(i) historical information;\n(ii) genealogical information;\n(iii) interpretive information about historic persons and events; or\n(iv) educational information about historic persons and events; or\n(f) postings of information instructing a user how to contact a website operator, employee, or other representative of the court.","path":["Title 78A Judiciary and Judicial Administration","Chapter 78A-2 Judicial Administration","Part 78A-2-2 General Provisions Applicable to Courts and Judges"],"source_url":"https://le.utah.gov/xcode/Title78A/Chapter2/78A-2-S233.html","current_through":"2026 General Session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T11:34:34Z","sha256":"3ec2974fcdbcdba2ef8b032d14f3b50f320f7bf68d8638b60b58d11a887f9a43","source_id":"us-ut","stale":false,"prev":"us-ut/utah-code-78a-2-232","next":"us-ut/utah-code-78a-2-301"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
