{"data":{"id":"us-ut/utah-code-78b-2-304","jurisdiction":"us-ut","citation":"Utah Code § 78B-2-304","heading":"Within two years.","body":"An action may be brought within two years:\n(1) against a marshal, sheriff, or other officer for liability incurred during the performance of the officer's official duties or by the omission of an official duty, including the nonpayment of money collected upon an execution;\n(2) against a constable:\n(a) for the nonpayment of money collected upon an execution; or\n(b) acting at the direction of a city, as described in Section 10-7-87, or a county as described in Title 17, Chapter 78, Part 6, Constables, for liability incurred during the performance of the constable's duties;\n(3) for recovery of damages for a death caused by the wrongful act or neglect of another;\n(4) in causes of action against the state and state employees, for injury to the personal rights of another if not otherwise provided by state or federal law; or\n(5) in causes of action against a political subdivision of the state and a political subdivision's employees, for injury to the personal rights of another arising after May 1, 2000, if not otherwise provided by state or federal law.","path":["Title 78B Judicial Code","Chapter 78B-2 Statutes of Limitations","Part 78B-2-3 Other than Real Property"],"source_url":"https://le.utah.gov/xcode/Title78B/Chapter2/78B-2-S304.html","current_through":"2026 General Session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T11:34:34Z","sha256":"52d303c49356879a77dee443303edd87c903e76133156ecd0b0d898e7b6a09df","source_id":"us-ut","stale":false,"prev":"us-ut/utah-code-78b-2-303","next":"us-ut/utah-code-78b-2-305"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
