{"data":{"id":"us-ut/utah-code-78b-3-105","jurisdiction":"us-ut","citation":"Utah Code § 78B-3-105","heading":"Definition of heirs.","body":"As used in Sections 78B-3-106 and 78B-3-107, \"heirs\" means the following surviving persons:\n(1) the decedent's spouse;\n(2) the decedent's children as provided in Section 75-2-114;\n(3)\n(a) the decedent's natural parents; or\n(b) if the decedent was adopted, the decedent's adoptive parents;\n(4) the decedent's stepchildren who:\n(a) are younger than 18 years old at the time of decedent's death; and\n(b)\n(i) received financial support from the decedent at the time of decedent's death; or\n(ii) resided with the decedent on at least a part-time basis at the time of the decedent's death; or\n(5) any blood relative as provided by the law of intestate succession if the decedent is not survived by a person under Subsection (1), (2), or (3).","path":["Title 78B Judicial Code","Chapter 78B-3 Civil Actions","Part 78B-3-1 Right to Sue and Be Sued"],"source_url":"https://le.utah.gov/xcode/Title78B/Chapter3/78B-3-S105.html","current_through":"2026 General Session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T11:34:34Z","sha256":"c05536b7d54ef10cc15ef0f150943bf510a68e9b536a57295eeeabd6f58d6091","source_id":"us-ut","stale":false,"prev":"us-ut/utah-code-78b-3-104","next":"us-ut/utah-code-78b-3-106"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
