{"data":{"id":"us-ut/utah-code-78b-4-701","jurisdiction":"us-ut","citation":"Utah Code § 78B-4-701","heading":"Definitions.","body":"As used in this part:\n(1) \"Breach of system security\" means the same as that term is defined in Section 13-44-102.\n(2) \"NIST\" means the National Institute for Standards and Technology in the United States Department of Commerce.\n(3) \"PCI data security standard\" means the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard.\n(4)\n(a) \"Person\" means:\n(i) an individual;\n(ii) an association;\n(iii) a corporation;\n(iv) a joint stock company;\n(v) a partnership;\n(vi) a business trust; or\n(vii) any unincorporated organization.\n(b) \"Person\" includes a financial institution organized, chartered, or holding a license authorizing operation under the laws of this state, another state, or another country.\n(5) \"Personal information\" means the same as that term is defined in Section 13-44-102.","path":["Title 78B Judicial Code","Chapter 78B-4 Limitations on Liability","Part 78B-4-7 Cybersecurity Affirmative Defense Act"],"source_url":"https://le.utah.gov/xcode/Title78B/Chapter4/78B-4-S701.html","current_through":"2026 General Session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T11:34:34Z","sha256":"8a1c72d02eee525bf62d08cc41473ddbabccef58c7acdb18c061562d91aa033b","source_id":"us-ut","stale":false,"prev":"us-ut/utah-code-78b-4-607","next":"us-ut/utah-code-78b-4-702"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
