{"data":{"id":"us-ut/utah-code-78b-4-901","jurisdiction":"us-ut","citation":"Utah Code § 78B-4-901","heading":"Definitions.","body":"As used in this part:\n(1) \"ADS-dedicated vehicle\" means the same as that term is defined in Section 41-26-102.1.\n(2) \"ADS-equipped vehicle\" means the same as that term is defined in Section 41-26-102.1.\n(3) \"Automated driving system\" means the same as that term is defined in Section 41-26-102.1.\n(4) \"Developer\" means a person that designs, creates, or produces the software or algorithms that constitute an automated driving system.\n(5) \"Driverless operation\" means the operation of a motor vehicle exclusively by a level four or level five automated driving system.\n(6) \"Dynamic driving task\" means the same as that term is defined in Section 41-26-102.1.\n(7) \"Level five ADS\" means the same as that term is defined in Section 41-26-102.1.\n(8) \"Level four ADS\" means the same as that term is defined in Section 41-26-102.1.\n(9) \"Manufacturer\" means a person that manufactures, assembles, or produces an ADS-equipped vehicle or the hardware components of an automated driving system.\n(10) \"Noneconomic loss\" means nonpecuniary harm that results from an injury or loss to a person or property, including:\n(a) pain and suffering;\n(b) loss of society, consortium, companionship, care, assistance, attention, protection, advice, guidance, counsel, instruction, training, or education;\n(c) disfigurement;\n(d) mental anguish; or\n(e) other intangible loss.\n(11) \"Operational design domain\" means the same as that term is defined in Section 41-26-102.1.","path":["Title 78B Judicial Code","Chapter 78B-4 Limitations on Liability","Part 78B-4-9 Limitations On Liability For Automated Driving System-Equipped Vehicles."],"source_url":"https://le.utah.gov/xcode/Title78B/Chapter4/78B-4-S901.html","current_through":"2026 General Session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T11:34:34Z","sha256":"786e335339f3c441e964bbcff390600d1003a44205480167d4d770a6aaaf21c8","source_id":"us-ut","stale":false,"prev":"us-ut/utah-code-78b-4-806","next":"us-ut/utah-code-78b-4-902"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
