{"data":{"id":"us-ut/utah-code-79-6-1201","jurisdiction":"us-ut","citation":"Utah Code § 79-6-1201","heading":"Nuclear Energy Consortium.","body":"(1) There is created the Nuclear Energy Consortium to advise the office and the Legislature on nuclear energy development in the state.\n(2) The consortium consists of:\n(a) one member of the Senate, appointed by the president of the Senate;\n(b) one member of the House of Representatives, appointed by the speaker of the House of Representatives;\n(c) the following members or designees:\n(i) the director of the Office of Energy Development, who shall serve as chair;\n(ii) the executive director of the Department of Environmental Quality;\n(iii) the chair of the Public Service Commission; and\n(iv) the executive director of the Department of Natural Resources; and\n(d) additional members with expertise in nuclear energy development appointed by the director, including representatives from areas or entities such as:\n(i) public and private institutions of higher education;\n(ii) the Idaho National Laboratory;\n(iii) the Nuclear Regulatory Commission;\n(iv) other federal entities as determined by the director;\n(v) nuclear fuel mining and milling;\n(vi) nuclear fuel manufacturing;\n(vii) nuclear technology providers;\n(viii) utility companies;\n(ix) energy off-takers;\n(x) workforce development;\n(xi) nuclear safety;\n(xii) research and development; and\n(xiii) nuclear waste management.\n(3)\n(a) A member appointed under Subsection (2)(a) may be removed by the president of the Senate.\n(b) A member appointed under Subsection (2)(b) may be removed by the speaker of the House of Representatives.\n(c) A member appointed under Subsection (2)(d) may be removed by the director.\n(4) The consortium shall meet at least quarterly.\n(5) A majority of consortium members constitutes a quorum for conducting consortium business.\n(6) The office shall provide staff support to the consortium.\n(7) A consortium member may not receive compensation or benefits for the member's service but may receive per diem and travel expenses in accordance with:\n(a) Sections 63A-3-106 and 63A-3-107; and\n(b) rules made by the Division of Finance under Sections 63A-3-106 and 63A-3-107.","path":["Title 79 Natural Resources","Chapter 79-6 Utah Energy Act","Part 79-6-12 Nuclear Energy Consortium"],"source_url":"https://le.utah.gov/xcode/Title79/Chapter6/79-6-S1201.html","current_through":"2026 General Session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T11:34:34Z","sha256":"6e3f7f6aef063f52ec8954c97bd1e0e625525950fe629a77d7c80fa103062ec6","source_id":"us-ut","stale":false,"prev":"us-ut/utah-code-79-6-1107","next":"us-ut/utah-code-79-6-1202"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
