{"data":{"id":"us-ut/utah-code-80-2-604","jurisdiction":"us-ut","citation":"Utah Code § 80-2-604","heading":"Death of a child reporting requirements.","body":"(1) A person who has reason to believe that a child has died as a result of abuse or neglect shall report that fact to:\n(a) the local law enforcement agency; and\n(b) the appropriate medical examiner in accordance with Title 26B, Chapter 8, Part 2, Utah Medical Examiner.\n(2) After receiving a report described in Subsection (1):\n(a) the local law enforcement agency shall report to the county attorney or district attorney as provided under Section 17-68-302 or 17-68-303; and\n(b) the medical examiner shall investigate and report the medical examiner's findings to:\n(i) the police;\n(ii) the appropriate county attorney or district attorney;\n(iii) the attorney general's office;\n(iv) the division; and\n(v) if the institution making the report is a hospital, to the hospital.","path":["Title 80 Utah Juvenile Code","Chapter 80-2 Child Welfare Services","Part 80-2-6 Child Abuse and Neglect Reports"],"source_url":"https://le.utah.gov/xcode/Title80/Chapter2/80-2-S604.html","current_through":"2026 General Session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T11:34:34Z","sha256":"1ef28cae8a37d941fc301db4969195ecf061ab683d673ddbc0bba74eb8fffa0c","source_id":"us-ut","stale":false,"prev":"us-ut/utah-code-80-2-603","next":"us-ut/utah-code-80-2-605"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
