{"data":{"id":"us-ut/utah-code-80-6-603","jurisdiction":"us-ut","citation":"Utah Code § 80-6-603","heading":"Rights of minors facing delinquency proceedings.","body":"(1) If a minor is facing a delinquency proceeding under this chapter, the minor has the right to:\n(a) appear in person in the proceeding for the petition or the criminal information;\n(b) defend, in person or by counsel, against the allegations in the petition or the criminal information;\n(c) receive a copy of the petition or the criminal information;\n(d) testify on the minor's own behalf;\n(e) confront the witnesses against the minor;\n(f) secure the attendance of witnesses on the minor's behalf under Section 78A-6-351;\n(g) be represented by counsel at all stages of the proceedings;\n(h) be appointed an indigent defense service provider and be provided indigent defense services in accordance with Title 78B, Chapter 22, Part 2, Appointment of Counsel;\n(i) remain silent and be advised that anything the minor says can and will be used against the minor in any court proceedings; and\n(j) appeal any adjudication under this chapter.\n(2) A minor facing a delinquency proceeding shall be advised of the minor's rights described in Subsection (1).","path":["Title 80 Utah Juvenile Code","Chapter 80-6 Juvenile Justice","Part 80-6-6 Delinquency Proceedings"],"source_url":"https://le.utah.gov/xcode/Title80/Chapter6/80-6-S603.html","current_through":"2026 General Session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T11:34:34Z","sha256":"d3ae6d77b9ce2f3bf3ca38d40a04ca0321c71f0da28e7a2f82d2f69fe38ba255","source_id":"us-ut","stale":false,"prev":"us-ut/utah-code-80-6-602","next":"us-ut/utah-code-80-6-604"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
