{"data":{"id":"us-ut/utah-code-80-6-904","jurisdiction":"us-ut","citation":"Utah Code § 80-6-904","heading":"Dispositions.","body":"(1) A youth court may order a disposition for:\n(a) compensatory service;\n(b) participation in law-related educational classes, appropriate counseling, treatment, or other educational programs;\n(c) providing periodic reports to the youth court;\n(d) participating in mentoring programs;\n(e) participation by the minor as a member of a youth court;\n(f) letters of apology;\n(g) essays; and\n(h) any other disposition considered appropriate by the youth court and adult coordinator.\n(2) A youth court may not:\n(a) impose a term of imprisonment or detention; or\n(b) impose fines.\n(3) A disposition by a youth court shall be completed within 180 days from the date of referral.\n(4) A disposition by a youth court shall be reduced to writing and signed by the minor and the minor's parent, guardian, or custodian indicating acceptance of the terms of the disposition.\n(5)\n(a) A youth court shall notify the referring source if a minor fails to successfully complete the youth court's disposition.\n(b) The referring source may then take any action the referring source considers appropriate.","path":["Title 80 Utah Juvenile Code","Chapter 80-6 Juvenile Justice","Part 80-6-9 Youth Court"],"source_url":"https://le.utah.gov/xcode/Title80/Chapter6/80-6-S904.html","current_through":"2026 General Session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T11:34:34Z","sha256":"1b4b63a8ed30053bab441890ce13a2241f3cac80d23deea156c54466eaf67ef6","source_id":"us-ut","stale":false,"prev":"us-ut/utah-code-80-6-903","next":"us-ut/utah-code-80-6-905"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
