{"data":{"id":"us-ut/utah-code-81-3-104","jurisdiction":"us-ut","citation":"Utah Code § 81-3-104","heading":"Married individual's right to wages -- Actions for personal injury.","body":"(1) A married individual may:\n(a) receive the wages for the individual's personal labor as if unmarried;\n(b) maintain an action in the individual's own name and hold the same in the individual's own right as if unmarried; and\n(c) prosecute and defend all actions for the preservation and protection of the individual's rights and property as if unmarried.\n(2) A husband does not have a right of recovery:\n(a) on account of personal injury or wrong to the husband's wife; or\n(b) for expenses connected with the personal injury or wrong to the husband's wife.\n(3)\n(a) A wife may recover against a third person for a personal injury or wrong to the wife as if unmarried.\n(b) A recovery shall include expenses of medical treatment and other expenses paid or assumed by the husband.","path":["Title 81 Utah Domestic Relations Code","Chapter 81-3 Rights and Obligations During Marriage","Part 81-3-1 Property Rights"],"source_url":"https://le.utah.gov/xcode/Title81/Chapter3/81-3-S104.html","current_through":"2026 General Session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T11:34:34Z","sha256":"f64638cbda8a0a63873583cd330850b4b937a2850ed0339f11324ac462a6ea76","source_id":"us-ut","stale":false,"prev":"us-ut/utah-code-81-3-103","next":"us-ut/utah-code-81-3-105"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
