{"data":{"id":"us-ut/utah-code-81-3-203","jurisdiction":"us-ut","citation":"Utah Code § 81-3-203","heading":"Content.","body":"(1) Parties to a premarital agreement may contract with respect to:\n(a) the rights and obligations of each of the parties in any of the property of either or both of them whenever and wherever acquired or located;\n(b) the right to buy, sell, use, transfer, exchange, abandon, lease, consume, expend, assign, create a security interest in, mortgage, encumber, dispose of, or otherwise manage and control property;\n(c) the disposition of property upon separation, marital dissolution, death, or the occurrence or nonoccurrence of any other event;\n(d) the modification or elimination of spousal support;\n(e) the ownership rights in and disposition of the death benefit from a life insurance policy;\n(f) the choice of law governing the construction of the agreement, except that a court with jurisdiction may apply the law of the legal domicile of either party, if it is fair and equitable; and\n(g) any other matter, including their personal rights and obligations, not in violation of public policy or a statute imposing a criminal penalty.\n(2) The right of a child, as defined in Section 81-6-101, to support, health and medical provider expenses, medical insurance, and child care coverage may not be affected by a premarital agreement.","path":["Title 81 Utah Domestic Relations Code","Chapter 81-3 Rights and Obligations During Marriage","Part 81-3-2 Uniform Premarital Agreement Act"],"source_url":"https://le.utah.gov/xcode/Title81/Chapter3/81-3-S203.html","current_through":"2026 General Session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T11:34:34Z","sha256":"cdf868d94b1a56362cde5de9e359ac73086af70ce2f7380704830c22a1010428","source_id":"us-ut","stale":false,"prev":"us-ut/utah-code-81-3-202","next":"us-ut/utah-code-81-3-204"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
