{"data":{"id":"us-ut/utah-code-81-8-711","jurisdiction":"us-ut","citation":"Utah Code § 81-8-711","heading":"Modification of convention child support order.","body":"(1) A tribunal of this state may not modify a convention child support order if the obligee remains a resident of the foreign country where the support order was issued unless:\n(a) the obligee submits to the jurisdiction of a tribunal of this state, either expressly or by defending on the merits of the case without objecting to the jurisdiction at the first available opportunity; or\n(b) the foreign tribunal lacks or refuses to exercise jurisdiction to modify the foreign tribunal's support order or issue a new support order.\n(2) If a tribunal of this state does not modify a convention child support order because the order is not recognized in this state, Subsection 81-8-708(3) applies.","path":["Title 81 Utah Domestic Relations Code","Chapter 81-8 Uniform Interstate Family Support Act","Part 81-8-7 Support Proceedings Under Convention"],"source_url":"https://le.utah.gov/xcode/Title81/Chapter8/81-8-S711.html","current_through":"2026 General Session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T11:34:34Z","sha256":"eeb7d5ac4a58f531e2ff186fc1c811b4259ce2a63525602dea603d3218a28dfa","source_id":"us-ut","stale":false,"prev":"us-ut/utah-code-81-8-710","next":"us-ut/utah-code-81-8-712"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
