{"data":{"id":"us-ut/utah-code-9-9-104","jurisdiction":"us-ut","citation":"Utah Code § 9-9-104","heading":"Duties and powers.","body":"(1) The division shall:\n(a) have all of the functions, powers, duties, rights, and responsibilities granted to it by this chapter;\n(b) staff those committees or boards as specified in this chapter; and\n(c) in accordance with policies set by state government, coordinate relations between:\n(i) the state;\n(ii) tribal governments;\n(iii) other Indian groups; and\n(iv) federal agencies.\n(2) The division may:\n(a) contract with public and private entities to provide services or facilities;\n(b) acquire and hold funds or other property for the administration of the programs outlined in this chapter;\n(c) make rules in accordance with Title 63G, Chapter 3, Utah Administrative Rulemaking Act, that are necessary to carry out the duties of the division;\n(d) accept gifts, grants, devises, and property, in cash or in kind, for the benefit of Indians; and\n(e) apply or dispose of those gifts, grants, devises, and property received under Subsection (2)(d) for the use and benefit of Indians within the state.","path":["Title 9 Cultural and Community Engagement","Chapter 9-9 Utah Division of Indian Affairs Act","Part 9-9-1 Division of Indian Affairs"],"source_url":"https://le.utah.gov/xcode/Title9/Chapter9/9-9-S104.html","current_through":"2026 General Session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-03T11:34:33Z","sha256":"65777e7ca79faad6ac16d48e413122142657f2690ae203433cd2f83029c4c6f3","source_id":"us-ut","stale":false,"prev":"us-ut/utah-code-9-9-103","next":"us-ut/utah-code-9-9-104.5"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
