Unless the exception in 12VAC35-250-30 B is met, any person seeking to be a peer recovery specialist under this chapter shall complete the DBHDS peer recovery specialist training.\n\nB. The curriculum of the peer recovery specialist training shall include training on the following topics:\n\n1. The current body of mental health and substance abuse knowledge;\n\n2. The recovery process;\n\n3. Promoting services, supports, and strategies for recovery;\n\n4. Peer-to-peer services;\n\n5. Crisis intervention;\n\n6. The value of the role of a peer recovery specialist;\n\n7. Basic principles related to health and wellness;\n\n8. Recovery, resiliency, and wellness plans;\n\n9. Stage-appropriate pathways in recovery support;\n\n10. Ethics and ethical boundaries;\n\n11. Cultural sensitivity and practice;\n\n12. Trauma and its impact on recovery;\n\n13. Community resources; and\n\n14. Delivering peer services within agencies and organizations.","path":["Title 12. Health","Agency 35.
