Periodic or continuous mechanical or physical restraints during routine care of a patient shall not be permitted, nor shall patients be restrained for employee convenience or as a substitute for care, treatment, or services.  In cases of extreme emergencies, when a patient is a danger to himself or others, mechanical or physical restraints may be used as ordered by a physician or other health care provider.\n\nB. Only those devices specifically designed as restraints may be used.  Makeshift restraints shall not be used under any circumstances.","path":["Title 12. Health","Agency 5.
