Change Section 201.3 of the IEBC to read:\n\n201.3 Terms defined in other codes. Where terms are not defined in this code and are defined in the other International Codes, such terms shall have the meanings ascribed to them in those codes, except that terms that are not defined in this code and that are defined in the VCC shall take precedence over other definitions.\n\nB. Change the following definitions in Section 202 of the IEBC to read:\n\nBuilding. A combination of materials, whether portable or fixed, having a roof to form a structure for the use or occupancy by persons or property. The word \"building\" shall be construed as though followed by the words \"or part or parts thereof\" unless the context clearly requires a different meaning. \"Building\" shall not include roadway tunnels and bridges owned by the Virginia Department of Transportation, which shall be governed by construction and design standards approved by the Commonwealth Transportation Board.\n\nChange of occupancy. Either of the following shall be considered a change of occupancy where the current VCC requires a greater degree of structural strength, fire protection, means of egress, ventilation, or sanitation than is existing in the current building or structure:\n\n1. Any change in the occupancy classification of a building or structure.\n\n2. Any change in the purpose of, or a change in the level of activity within, a building or structure.\n\nNote: The use and occupancy classification of a building or shall be determined in accordance with Chapter 3 of the VCC.\n\nExisting building. A building for which a legal certificate of occupancy has been issued under any edition of the USBC or approved by the building official when no legal certificate of occupancy exists and that has been occupied for its intended use or a building built prior to the initial edition of the USBC.\n\nExisting structure. A structure (i) for which a legal building permit has been issued under any edition of the USBC, (ii) that has been previously approved, or (iii) that was built prior to the initial edition of the USBC. For application of provisions in flood hazard areas, an existing structure is any building or structure for which the start of construction commenced before the effective date of the community's first flood plain management code, ordinance, or standard.\n\nC. Add the following definitions to Section 202 of the IEBC to read:\n\nMoved building or structure. An existing building or structure that is moved to a new location.\n\nRoof covering. The covering applied to the roof deck or spaced supports for weather resistance, energy performance, fire classification, or appearance.\n\nStructure. An assembly of materials forming a construction for occupancy or use, including stadiums, gospel and circus tents, reviewing stands, platforms, stagings, observation towers, radio towers, water tanks, storage tanks (underground and aboveground), trestles, piers, wharves, swimming pools, amusement devices, storage bins, and other structures of this general nature but excluding water wells. The word \"structure\" shall be construed as though followed by the words \"or part or parts thereof\" unless the context clearly requires a different meaning. \"Structure\" shall not include roadway tunnels and bridges owned by the Virginia Department of Transportation, which shall be governed by construction and design standards approved by the Virginia Commonwealth Transportation Board.\n\nD. Delete the following definitions from Section 202 of the IEBC:\n\nApproved\n\nDangerous\n\nDeferred submittal\n\nFacility\n\nFlood hazard area\n\nRegistered design professional in responsible charge\n\nRelocatable building\n\nRoof repair\n\nUnsafe\n\nWork area","path":["Title 13.
