The purpose of the cooling assistance component is to assist low-income households with their cooling needs when other resources cannot meet those needs. Assistance provided through the program must continue or provide cooling services.\n\nB. In order to be eligible for cooling assistance, a household shall:\n\n1. Meet all of the fuel assistance criteria as set forth in 22VAC40-680-20;\n\n2. Have at least one vulnerable household member as set forth in 22VAC40-680-10;\n\n3. Be unable to meet the emergency requirements through applicant or community resources; and\n\n4. Not have received the cooling assistance maximum benefit during the current year.\n\nC. The benefit amount for each type of assistance offered is the average cost as determined by a statewide survey and the availability of federal block grant funding.
