The Department of Environmental Quality shall coordinate the review of an application for surface water withdrawals that also requires a Virginia Marine Resources Commission (VMRC) permit under Chapter 12 (§ 28.2-1200 et seq.) of Title 28.2 of the Code of Virginia with the VMRC in accordance with § 62.1-44.15:5.01 of the Code of Virginia.\n\nB. The initial application for surface water withdrawals that requires both an individual Virginia Water Protection Permit and a VMRC permit shall be advertised concurrently by DEQ and VMRC. When appropriate, such advertisement may be in the form of a joint public notice of the application, prepared by VMRC with the assistance of DEQ, published once in a newspaper of general circulation in the area affected by the proposed activity in accordance with VMRC regulations and policy.
