Prevention of significant deterioration areas are geographically defined below by locality for the following criteria pollutants:\n\n1. Particulate matter.\n\nAll areas not designated nonattainment for particulate matter in 9VAC5-20-204.\n\n2. Sulfur dioxide.\n\nAll areas not designated nonattainment for sulfur dioxide in 9VAC5-20-204.\n\n3. Carbon monoxide.\n\nAll areas not designated nonattainment for carbon monoxide in 9VAC5-20-204.\n\n4. Ozone (volatile organic compounds):\n\nAll areas not designated nonattainment for ozone in 9VAC5-20-204.\n\n5. Nitrogen oxides.\n\nAll areas not designated nonattainment for nitrogen oxides in 9VAC5-20-204.\n\n6. Lead.\n\nAll areas not designated nonattainment for lead in 9VAC5-20-204.\n\nB. All areas of the state are geographically defined as prevention of significant deterioration areas for the following pollutants:\n\nFluorides\n\nSulfuric acid mist\n\nTotal reduced sulfur:\n\nHydrogen sulfide\n\nMethyl mercaptan\n\nDimethyl sulfide\n\nDimethyl disulfide\n\nReduced sulfur compounds:\n\nHydrogen sulfide\n\nCarbon disulfide\n\nCarbonyl sulfide\n\nMunicipal waste combustor organics (measured as total tetra-chlorinated through octa-chlorinated dibenzo-p-dioxins and dibenzofurans)\n\nMunicipal waste combustor metals (measured as particulate matter)\n\nMunicipal waste combustor acid gases (measured as the sum of SO2 and HCl)\n\nC. The classification of prevention of significant deterioration areas is as follows:\n\n1. Class I.\n\na. Federal -- James River Face Wilderness Area (located in AQCR 2) and Shenandoah National Park (located in AQCR 2 and AQCR 4).\n\nb. State -- None.\n\n2. Class II -- All areas of the state not designated in Class I.\n\n3. Class III -- None.\n\nD. The area classification prescribed in subsection C of this section may be redesignated in accordance with 40 CFR 52.21(e), (g), (u) and (t).","path":["Title 9. Environment","Agency 5.
