{"data":{"id":"us-vt/1-v.s.a.-371","jurisdiction":"us-vt","citation":"1 V.S.A. § 371","heading":"Legal holidays","body":"(a) The following shall be legal holidays:\n(1) New Year’s Day, January 1;\n(2) Martin Luther King, Jr.’s Birthday, the third Monday in January;\n(3) Presidents’ Day, the third Monday in February;\n(4) Town Meeting Day, the first Tuesday in March;\n(5) Memorial Day, the last Monday in May;\n(6) Juneteenth, June 19;\n(7) Independence Day, July 4;\n(8) Bennington Battle Day, August 16;\n(9) Labor Day, the first Monday in September;\n(10) Indigenous Peoples’ Day, the second Monday in October;\n(11) Veterans’ Day, November 11;\n(12) Thanksgiving Day, the fourth Thursday in November;\n(13) Christmas Day, December 25.\n(b) All State departments, agencies, and offices shall observe any legal holiday that falls on a Saturday on the preceding Friday and any legal holiday that falls on a Sunday on the following Monday; however, all other conditions of employment related to legal holidays, including decisions such as the closing or opening of State offices and compensation for work performed on such a day, shall be proper matters for collective bargaining pursuant to 3 V.S.A. § 904.\n(c) The provisions of this section shall not affect any collective bargaining agreement in existence on the effective date hereof.","path":["Title 1: General Provisions","Chapter 007: Legal Holidays; Commemorative Days"],"source_url":"https://legislature.vermont.gov/statutes/section/01/007/00371","current_through":"2025 session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T12:04:51Z","sha256":"928f441169fda90dbd815809335696f2feddcedb93c39cc68c3e0260dfab4466","source_id":"us-vt","stale":false,"prev":"us-vt/1-v.s.a.-339","next":"us-vt/1-v.s.a.-372"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
