{"data":{"id":"us-vt/10-v.s.a.-2648","jurisdiction":"us-vt","citation":"10 V.S.A. § 2648","heading":"Slash removal","body":"(a) A person may cut or cause to be cut forest growth only if all slash adjoining the right-of-way of any public highway, or the boundary lines of woodlots owned by adjoining property owners, is treated as follows:\n(1) All slash shall be removed for a distance of 50 feet from the right-of-way of any public highway or from the boundary lines of woodlots owned by adjoining property owners.\n(2) All slash shall be removed for a distance of 100 feet from standing buildings on adjoining property.\n(b) [Repealed.]\n(c) If in the opinion of the town forest fire warden there is no fire hazard as a result of a cutting, the warden may issue, upon request, a statement relieving the operator of the conditions required in this section.","path":["Title 10: Conservation and Development","Chapter 083: Department of Forests, Parks and Recreation","Subchapter 004: FOREST FIRES AND FIRE PREVENTION"],"source_url":"https://legislature.vermont.gov/statutes/section/10/083/02648","current_through":"2025 session","vintage":"","retrieved_at":"2026-09-05T15:31:51Z","sha256":"60032141ed6436691458d48e6fd1e7aa74969b7eb97782f8d4af8954234172e6","source_id":"us-vt","stale":false,"prev":"us-vt/10-v.s.a.-2647","next":"us-vt/10-v.s.a.-2651"},"notice":"GroundRules: Original legal text.
